Artist Statement & Philosophy
Through his self-produced project "Sora no Hotori" (空の滸) and his duo work with vocalist Daisuke Ito, collaborates with Japan’s leading jazz musicians to redefine the boundaries of his art. He approaches tap dance fundamentally as a percussion instrument, driven by the philosophy that "performing with pure sincerity transcends into a unique form of physical expression." With absolute confidence in his technical mastery and artistic vision, he is dedicated to sharing the profound allure and raw energy of tap dance with a global audience.
Career & Artistic Concept
Beginning his journey at age seven, he studied under Hiroko Higuchi and HideboH. He quickly emerged as a "young hopeful" in the industry, appearing in Takeshi Kitano’s acclaimed film Zatoichi, the stage production Super Dance Premium 2008, and various high-profile television programs.
Following collaborations with Japanese top ballet dancer Kazuhiro Nishijima and legendary trumpeter Terumasa Hino—and a transformative period of study in France—he established his core concept: "The Essential Collaboration of Tap, Music, and Dance." Utilizing world-class technique and what critics describe as "light-speed footwork," he continues to pioneer an unprecedented style that emphasizes deep musicality and expressive power.
International Recognition & Film
His artistry has received immense acclaim in New York, the traditional center of tap. He won the 3td prize at the legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo and delivered a soul-stirring performance at the Cotton Club, where Harlem locals hailed him as the "reincarnation of Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson."
In Yutaka Mizutani’s directorial debut, TAP THE LAST SHOW, he was cast in the pivotal lead role of MAKOTO. He showcased his unique artistry on screen, most notably with his original signature move, the "10 Counts Dragon Wings"—a technical feat said to be achievable only by him.
Recent Highlights & Awards

2024: Guest-starred at the "One Beat, One World" Drum Festival in Hong Kong, hosted by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. He led a collaboration with the Hong Kong-based tap company "R&T," directing and performing a powerful rendition of "Festivo" from the film Zatoichi.

2022: Performed in an entertainment show produced by world-renowned fashion designer Junko Koshino at the Tokyo International Film Festival’s Akira Kurosawa Award ceremony.

2019 & 2022: Invited by world-renowned tap dancer Tamangoh to perform at the international dance festival "Dances Métisses" in Toulouse, France, and French Guiana. His solo performances earned massive acclaim and multiple standing ovations.

2017: Received the "JDI DANCE AWARD" hosted by JAPAN DANCE INNOVATION.
7 歳よりタップダンスを始め火口ひろ子、HideboH らに師事。北野武監督作品『座頭市』や、 舞台『Super Dance Premium 2008』など多くの舞台・イベント・TV 番組で若手のホープ
として 活躍する。
その後、バレエダンサーの 西島数博氏や世界的トランペット奏者日野皓正氏らとの 共演、更にフランス留学を経てタップの
新たな可能性を 見出し、持ち前の世界トップレベルと 評されるテクニック&光速ステップを武器に、「タップ×音楽×ダンスの
本質的 コラボレート」を コンセプトとして活動を展開。
自身の最大の強みである足元の技術に満足することなく、より
高い 音楽性とダンス的表現力にこだわった、前人未踏の TAP
スタイルを追求している。
そのスタイルは TAP の本場ニューヨークでも大絶賛され、
世界的パフォーマーの登竜門 Amateur Night at the Apollo では 1 週勝抜き、また Cotton Club でのパフォーマンスはタップの
神様 “Mr.ボージャングルズの再来”と、本場 Harlem の住人をも唸らせた。
水谷豊初監督作品『TAP THE LAST SHOW』では、ストーリーの軸となるメインダンサー MAKOTO に大抜擢。
世界で夏生にしかできないオリジナルの大技”10 Counts”を
筆頭に、 築き上げてきた唯一無二の TAP を存分に披露した。
2017年、JAPAN DANCE INNOVATION 主催「JDI DANCE AWARD」受賞。
2019 年 11 月、そして2022年4月には南仏のトゥールーズ、
そして南米フランス領ギアナにて、世界的タップダンサーTamangoh 氏に招かれ、 国際ダンスフェスティ バル『Dances Métisses』に出演。 渾身のタップソロは大喝采を浴び、
スタンディングオベーションを巻き起こした。
2022年に開催された東京国際映画祭、黒澤明賞授賞式典では世界的ファッションデザイナーJUNKO KOSHINO氏プロデュースのエンターテインメントショーに出演、大好評を得た。
